The DBSA-Dallas is locally-run, independent affiliate of the National DBSA, which is the largest support organization in the nation devoted exclusively to mood disorders. The DBSA-Dallas is a non-profit organization run by individuals with mood disorders and their significant others. All who are interested are invited to attend meetings and to participate without cost or obligation. We will be gradually updating our local offerings and I look forward to these exciting new changes.

Speaker: Dr. Robin Jarret and Dr. Jennifer Giampaolo

Perinatal and Postnatal Depression

 They will discuss perinatal and postnatal depression and the consequences it can have on women, their babies and their families.  Dr. Giampaolo. M.D, M.S., is currently the founding resident in the newly formed Women's Health Track at UT Southwestern and is focusing on mood disorders during women's reproductive years.  Dr. Robin B Jarrett Ph.D is a Professor of Psychiatry and is internationally known for research, practice and education in psychosocial intervention, particularly cognitive behavioral therapy.

This meeting will take place in room D1.502 at the UTSW Medical Center, Dallas, 5323 Harry Hines Blvd Dallas, TX 75390  (See Map on Page 8.) Come early to snack on refreshments and pick up free literature. Please do not miss this exciting and informative meeting. Family members and friends, as well as other professionals, are also welcome to attend all meetings.

** Old newsletters mention a non-affiliated group Getting and Staying Mentally Healthy, which meets on the 2nd Thursday of the month. That group is facilitated by a psychologist. It has changed locations to the Episcopal Church of the Ascension 8787 Greenville Ave, Dallas Tx., 75243. The time is still 7:00pm to 8:30pm.  For questions call Ray at 214-987-3151.

The Living Room


Are you a teenager with Depression or Bipolar Disorder? Do you feel alone or misunderstood? You are not alone. The Living Room is a free support group that focuses on issues unique to teens with mood disorders. This group provides a safe and supportive environment to share experiences with other teens. We offer this meeting twice monthly.


The first meeting takes place the first Thursday of each month from 7:30 – 9:00 p.m. at UT Southwestern Medical Center at Dallas in Building D, Room D1.106. We meet in room D1.502 for announce­ments and then move to our meeting room.  Annie Walley, LCSW, is the group facilitator. Ms. Walley, Clinical Therapist, is the Coordinator of the Pediatric Psychiatry Research Program for the Children’s Medical Center, Dallas. She is responsible for evaluation, ongoing assess­ment, case management, conducting group therapy sessions with bipolar youth, and handling patient/family issues.

Free pizza is provided at the meeting.
There will also be a support group for friends and family members meeting at the same time.
